Things to Do

Everything for the Laid-back Florida Lifestyle
Cape Coral and its surrounding areas offer a wide variety of recreational amenities for everyone to enjoy.

Downtown Fort Myers
Stroll along the famous River District, and you’ll find everything from quaint mom-and-pop diners and shops, to modern shopping malls and your favorite brand-name restaurants.

Boating & Fishing
The River District also offers avid boaters first-class marina facilities and access to the Gulf of Mexico, the barrier islands of Sanibel, Captiva and Estero, and the abundant estuaries, sounds, harbors and more that make Southwest Florida fishing some of the best in the world.

Beaches
Sanibel is one of the unique barrier islands of the world, having an east-west orientation when most islands are north-south. This makes it uniquely gifted with great sandy beaches and an abundance of shells. The Causeway beaches are reat for swimming, fishing, windsurfing and picnicking. Pull your vehicle right to waters edge.

Matlacha
This charming fishing village (pronounced Mat-luh-shay) is home to the "Fishingest Bridge in the World," because you can't cross the bridge at any time of day -- or in any kind of weather -- without seeing someone casting a reel. Colorful art galleries, shops and restaurants bring a flavor reminiscent of the Florida Keys. A county park with a fishing pier, boat ramp, playground, and picnic areas give ample room to play and watch the famous Florida sunsets.

Sanibel & Captiva Islands
These islands may be tiny, but their charm and personality abounds. Enjoy a myriad of recreational amenities, including 15 miles of unspoiled beaches, 22 miles of bike paths, 50 types of fish, 230 types of birds, 250 types of shells and 0 stop lights. Explore the outdoors at the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge, or get active with biking, shelling, bird watching, boating, golfing, snorkeling, theater, or music. And for a truly local experience, try dock fishing next to the historic functioning lighthouse.
